Research
Exploring biology through lab work, computation, and systems-level thinking.
Experience
San Diego Biomedical Research Institute
Research Intern
January 2026 ā May 2026
Worked in the Marcondes Lab studying how CNS dysfunction associated with HIV infection and comorbidities, such as substance abuse and aging, aggravate neuroimmune pathogenesis. Cultured mammalian neural and epithelial cell lines, performed BCA protein assays to determine protein concentration, and used Western blotting to quantify protein phosphorylation.
University City High School
Metagenomics Program Co-President
May 2025 ā May 2026
Learned wet lab and computational approaches to metagenomics, including DNA extraction, sequencing concepts, R programming, and biological data analysis.
Boz Life Science Institute
Metagenomics Intern
September 2024 ā May 2025
Learned wet lab and computational approaches to metagenomics, including DNA extraction, sequencing concepts, R programming, and biological data analysis. Worked with real metagenomic datasets to understand microbial diversity along Rose Creek, a local waterway undergoing ecological restoration.
